About
Welcome to Hoel Gård - Manorial and down to earth.
On the Nes peninsula, right by the lake Mjøsa, is Hoel Gård idyllically situated in the landscape, colloquially called “Norway’s Tuscany”.
The historical framework makes a stay at the farm a unique experience – with a story manor dating back to medieval times.
The main building’s oldest section dates back to 1719.
The hosts, Vigdis and Per Eilif Sandberg, use the cultural history of the numerous buildings to welcome guests to conferences, smaller and large scale events, accommodation and cultural events – summer and winter.
Today, the farm is producing broiler chickens, grains, seeds and potatoes, in addition to externally oriented activities, which has brought an endless number of guests here since 1993.
The beautiful Lindealléen and park were planted around 1900.
The formal and terraced gardens bordered by the tree avenue in the south constitutes the core of a baroque construction assumed from the end of the 1700s.
The gardens have a central axis of the main building and is divided into four terraces propping four brick dry walls in alternating heights of nature.
The resort was probably marked by maturity in the late 1800s. Walls and stairs / structures was diverted early 1900s and is strongly influenced by the architectural garden styles like renaissance and baroque, while pavilions and plantings as large-flowered lilacs, sundials and poles probably are elements characterized by formalism and landscaped during the 1900s. the terraces have sparse vegetation and therefore appears a little bare, with the exception of the second dry wall that is covered by creepers.
